AMD Athlon 2.2ghz
Radeon 9800pro 128mb
ASUS Compaq MOBO, 4x AGP = highest AGP setting
400wat HIPRO Power Supply

The problem isn't cooling.
The problem probably isn't drivers.

The drivers I have tried :
ALL of the 3.x series
Newest Omega
The Custom Counter-Strike Omega Drivers
Newest DNA
Newest ATI

OH YEAH!  My problem...

I can't get constant 100fps in Half-Life mods.

The only one I care about is Counter-Strike.

In two smokes I dip to 80, when there are multiple smokes AND multiple people on the screen, I dip toward 50s and 40s.  I will sometime dip to 40s and 50s if there is just two smokes and one person.
If /g/ can't help me, please offer me the cheapest videocard that you KNOW, by experience, will get CONSTANT 100FPS in Counter-Strike.

I can tell the difference between 40 and 60/100.  =/

i can tell the difference between 60fps and 120fps

my display maxes at 140hz so i can see up to 140fps

60fps is not the visual limit, shit for eyes.

I can tell the difference between 100 and 120 as well, provided the display has enough vertical refresh Hz to display the extra frames.

Try it in a fast game where you can go through 10 doorways and pan each room on 3axes in a matter of seconds, it will become very easy to tell the difference between 60fps and 100. Staring at a still picture or playing those slow moving groundpounders like cs or sim rpg games you will not be able to tell anything.

My computer has better specs than yours and I don't get anywhere near 100FPS, granted my monitor can only do around 85Hz but I don't get even close to that. Counter-Strike Source runs better than most HalfLife 1 stuff. Methinks HL1 just has a shit engine.

what settings are you running CS at? drop them all to nothing, and also change some console commands to turn off shit like fog, rain, etc.
