Hello. I'm looking to change my IP adress. I tried unplugging my cable modem and computer and turning it all back all. I've used ipconfig to release and renew my IP but it keeps giving me my same IP. Is there anyway I can get a new IP adress.

My cable company also required you to register the new mac with them every time you did that.

Why do you want a new IP, get banned from something?
If the cable company is statically assigning your IP to your modem, you're up a creek without a paddle. You *could* try to pretend that you're a target of hackers and *ask* them for a new IP. They're in a position to *know* whether you're lying or being truthful, though.

If the number 5 occurs in your IP, claim that it is against your religion (Discordian) to own any numbers containing 5. If 5 does not occur in your IP, claim that your religion (Dischordian again) mandates that all numbers you own must contain at least one 5.

The router. At least the computer that was acting as a router.

you know they found a way to flash the eeprom with hacked firmware and change the mac that way, on the modems themselves... motorola surfboards iirc hardware hack
that would be completely untracable on a cable network
