Change my IP adress

Hello. I'm looking to change my IP adress. I tried unplugging my cable modem and computer and turning it all back all. I've used ipconfig to release and renew my IP but it keeps giving me my same IP. Is there anyway I can get a new IP adress.

My cable company also required you to register the new mac with them every time you did that.
