Anonymous Proxy: how anonymous really?

I need to surf anonymously. I mean *really*. What free anoynmous surfing sites don't log your IP?

The DSLReports Security forums have a lot of good information on  this, try searching anonymous proxy. (http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,13844319?) In this, they basically say proxies are worthless and more insecure than anything. They mention Tor (http://tor.eff.org/), Freenet (http://freenet.sourceforge.net/) and i2p (http://www.i2p.net/). Anonymous encryption is your best bet. Of course, it's not foolproof, but you'll find good company on those three services, and that must count for something. Personally, I think the wireless hotspot is the safest way if you take the proper precautions. The only link to you that way is through your physical presence, the other options leave tons and tons of evidence.

...which is not really going to be accomplishable, unless you're -seriously- hardcore on the subject. There's just too many ways for a 'global identifier' to be sniffed from the machine you're using. To date, with all the WiFi jacking I've know of, the perp was fingered from the hardware addresses of their network interface ("00-11-24-22-52-2d..."), so unless you're prepared to buy a new wireless card each time, or can crack firmware to change it, "don't even bother, kid."
