Books to read?

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-03 22:42

Before you say 'troll', I actually do not read avidly, but enjoy reading, and would like you guy's suggestions on books. Currently I'm about to start War and Peace, I've got Crime and Punishment, and a bunch of Nietzsche because several people I know recommended it. Does /book/ have any recommendations? I really have no preference, though I like the brain crunchers, so to speak. I hope to get A Clockwork Orange when I'm done with the ones I have now, and eventually hope to read Les Miserables. I got Thomas Mann's Death in Venice that had a lot of his other works like Blood of the Walsungs, A Boy and His Dog, and and others.

Any others I need to get?

I've also read On a Pale Horse and I must say I really did enjoy it, was a page-turner for me.

I'm sorry but I'm afraid I can't take anyone who uses the word "page-turner" seriously. Sorry

Then don't. If you'd prefer, it was a 'damned good book'. This board seems too sophisticated to be 4chan, so I used some arguably more sophisticated words. That may also be the first time I've ever used the word 'page-turner' as well.

Don't bother apologizing. If the guy can't handle a simple colloquialism, he probably wouldn't enjoy the book you suggested.

are OP, as am I.

I can't really tell who's side you're on, it's late and I didn't get much sleep, but regardless. I had forgotten to mention that I'd read On a Pale Horse.

Have you read Lolita? If not, you should add that to your list. It's an amazing book.

Tad Williams, Terry Brooks, Terry Pratchett, and Juliet Marillier.

Just some good authors. Can pretty much pick up anything of theirs if you're into Fantasy novels/series like i am.

Otherwise Catch 22 by Joseph Heller is a great read and a classic... Even if it doesn't make much sense.

Lastly... No matter how good women say it is. Do not ever. EVER. Read or watch Twilight. Someone i know did both and his dick fell off.

The Master and Margarite by Mikhail Bulgakov. It's one of those books that's both provoking, exciting and funny: it's just good on all levels.

Don't change these.
