Good fantasy/magical books?

I just started a new job which gives me tons of free time (as in 6 hours or so a night) to basically just slack off and do whatever I want as long as I answer the phone.  The only fantasy I've read is Tolkien (which is great) and I read some of the Potter stuff when I was in my teens (which suck, after trying to go back and read it again).  What are some other good universes/book series to read?

C.J. Cherryh's books starting with Fortress in the Eye of Time are good. You should read Lloyd Alexander's Chronicles of Prydain. They're actually for young people, but since you missed them back then and they are good, I recommend reading them now. I enjoyed reading Raymond E. Feist's books, although his skill with words is iffy. I also enjoyed the Wheel of Time series.

The Discworld series by Terry Pratchett
Stardust by Neil Gaiman
American Gods by Neil Gaiman

If you want fantasy set in the modern world (not to everyones taste I'd admit) then Robert Rankin's Brentford series is worth a go.

Also by the same author is the Hugo rune/ Cornelius Murphy series and the hollow chocolate bunnies of the apocalypse series which are worth a go too.

Are you looking particularly for sagas/epic fantasy series (the "universe" thing), or are you open to books of all fantasy denominations?

Anyway, here's some of the former:
Abercrombie, Joe - First Law
Bakker, Scott - Prince of Nothing
Donaldson, Stephen - Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever
Erikson, Steven - Malazan Book of the Fallen
Feist, Raymond - Magician (seconding >>2)
Jordan, Robert - Wheel of Time (seconding >>2)
Martin, George - A Song of Ice and Fire
Williams, Tad - Memory, Sorrow and Thorn

Don't change these.
