Animal Farm is a novel by George Orwell, and is regarded in the literary field as one of the most famous satirical allegories of Soviet totalitarianism. Orwell based the book on events up to and during Joseph Stalin's regime. Orwell, a democratic socialist, and a member of the Independent Labour Party for many years, was a critic of Stalin, and was suspicious of Moscow-directed Stalinism after his experiences in the Spanish Civil War.

Gilgamesh, according to the Sumerian king list, was the fifth king of Uruk (Early Dynastic II, first dynasty of Uruk), the son of Lugalbanda, ruling circa 2650 BC. He is also the central character in the Epic of Gilgamesh, which says that his mother was Ninsun, (whom some call Rimat Ninsun), a goddess. Gilgamesh is described as two-thirds divine and one-third human, making him one of the first superhuman characters in recorded history.

no, it's actually about communism. the rest of your post simply indicates you are a homosexual in denial. gb2gaia

Animal Farm is a great book, you can take it just as a fun story, as a story with a moral intended, or indeed as a satire on communism as >>5 copypasta'd.

Reading books like this makes you appreciate the freedom of speech we have these days, where one can come out and plainly state "I disagree with the way this person in power has handled affairs". Saying such a thing under a ruler such as Stalin would likely get you shot, as an example to other dissidents.

How far we have come. Or have we?

Animal Farm is a critical view of communism, a system of government which SAYS that all should be treated equally, but where the ruling class usually ends up getting treated MUCH better than the rest of the population, and eventually oppresses the population they initially set out to liberate.

We see the animals band together for freedom and equality, and throw out the evil humans, under the banner of "Four legs good, two legs bad." As time goes on, the pigs become the ruling class, we see them turn against each other as they fight internally for power. The lie is even spread that one pig, formerly a brave member of the group, is actually evil and has caused trouble and fled like the coward he allegedly always has been.

In the final crux of the story, we see the pigs become that which they initially rose up against, donning clothes, living in the farmhouse and changing the saying in the barn to "Four legs good, two legs better".

Now look up history of Josef Stalin, and learn how his regime did pretty much the same thing to the Russian people, with him and his cabinet in the role of the pigs.

Does that explain things?

NP. Google things like "animal farm study guide" for more info.

I generally try to look for a study guide for any book I'm reading, as well as those thin $1 Cliff's Notes Books for classics, as they usually give an insight that I ordinarily wouldn't have thought of, and increase my understanding and appreciation of the book even more.
