just started reading it last night, holy shit.
rips off lots of ideas from various places, and the overall text formatting and design borders on pretense, but the story works.
reminds me quite a bit of Borges.
anyone else read this?

I've also read House of Leaves. It's genre, if it even has one, kinda defies definition. At times, it feels like a horror/suspense novel. Other times, it kinda feels like psychological drama

Is there a better version of this kind of a book? Or would it be fine for someone that has never touched anything like it?

I read the e-book, I don't think it did it justice.

I read it about half a year ago now. I'm considering going through it again in a few months and adding my own edits. Just so that someone may get a kick out of it down the road.
You would just have to read it and see. I can't really think of any prior reading that would help. Knowing a little greek mythos would add to the book though I'm sure.
