Chronicles of Narnia

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, obviously, came out Friday. I just read the book beforehand, and I 'm going to watch the movie today.

I personally would rather read something with more complexity instead of using things like 'this place was SO WONDERFUL with LIGHTS and FLOWERS and WOW'. But I do believe this book was meant for kids, so.

Try the Parelandra series by the same author. Also Phantastes and Lillith by George Macdonald are worth reading. How was the movie? It looks fairly lackluster... that's just my impression from the trailer though.

Are the sequels really worth reading?  I was bored sick as a kid trying to get through them.

Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe is actually the second book in the series.  Well, actually, it was the first written, story wise The Magician's Nephew comes first, and it's rather important, as it explains where the witch came from in the first place, why the wardrobe was a portal to Narnia, how that lampost got there, why Aslan is so important, and the creation of Narnia.

If you prefer to read it in chronological order, that is. The boxset for the books have them in that order, but I'm not entirely sure I want to read it like that.

I liked it. But generally I have no specific taste in movies and everything is rated on a scale of "it sucked" through "it was awesome", things generally falling in the "I liked it" catagory.

Quick question to help me refresh since it has been YEARS since I've read the book, but I'm curious if there is a specific character that is a personal favorite of mine from the series is in "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe".

Now you'll have to forgive the cryptic questioning method since I cannot even remember the name of the character, but he was a mouse or rat swordsman who was very much in mannerism akin to a musketeer.  If someone could, please refresh me on the name of the character and remind me if he was in that particular book.  I would really appreciate it.

You're probably thinking of Redwall.

Nope, I finally had a chance to sit down with the books.  The character I'm thinking of is Reepicheep.  It also turns out that I have indeed forgotten much about the series since I last read it.  I could have sworn that Reepicheep was in The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe, but he wasn't.  However, I suppose I have something to read now.

Reepicheep was first in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. If The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe ever makes enough money in theaters to warrant the production of the rest of the movies, I am very eagerly looking forward to seeing what Dawn Treader will look like, because that is a very epic book.

Also jumping on the bandwagon for Silver Chair. My first experience with that book was the BBC teleplay that was around 3 hours long or so.

As long as we don't get Lion's director to do the rest of the movies, we should be okay. Jesus Christ that was a bad job. The script was crap too. Everything except the visuals was crap in that movie, and I was so stoked to see it too :(

Don't change these.
