Heh, Madhouse's Hunter X Hunter is one of the brightest shows around.

But you can be colorful without being garish. For recent examples, see Little Witch Academia and Jinsei Best Ten.

Go fuck yourself.
Photo Kano has the best color this season.

Hironori Tanaka - Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S #6 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fngfx3X7U30

Name: Anonymous 2013-05-17 14:53

pretty boring

Name: Anonymous 2013-05-17 15:52

>>166

I agree with >>167

this whole scene was all about pans and zooms. The character was just standing there with no impact at all. All the work was done by the compositors.

The sparks and electricity FX didn't impress me.

reminded me to Kameda's FMA scene wich had a lot more impact and motion.

Why are all the crazy animators going low level lately?
First Kameda, now Tanaka.
They seem kind of bored lately.

Name: Anonymous 2013-05-17 15:55

too many in-betweens here.

They've already built enough reputation to raise the pay.
Now it's time to make money.

>>169

It's the animator crisis.
I think Tanaka and Kameda need some rest or distance for a few months.

Based Yutapon gettin all the money and still delivering good quality shit.

But it's soooooo smooth

Name: Anonymous 2013-05-17 16:20

Don't worry, Kameda will do some really badass cuts for Kill la Kill.

Name: Anonymous 2013-05-17 16:21

Steins Gate movie KA: Satoshi Mori, Hiroshi Hamasaki, Hiromi Ishigami, & Masaru Hyodo. Yuu Yamashita was cooperating animation director

Name: Anonymous 2013-05-17 19:43

Is the Railgun S cuts you guys have been posting credited as a Tanaka anywhere or that's just a supposition you made based on the style?

Thanks.

Tanaka is credited in this episode, and it's a guess based on the animation style.

Okay.  Thanks man.

So I just ought to watch a consequent number of acuts animated by an animator to spot out his/her style, right? But where can I know of this or that show's cut has been animated by this specific animator?

Thansk!

Just check out animator sakuga MADs, you can get a feel for the animator's drawing style and they show their cuts from various shows. Other than that, key animation books tend to note their works as well. Sometimes animators also confirm their cuts on Twitter if they have one.

>>181
Thanks a lot, man!

Name: Anonymous 2013-05-17 20:21

Also, looks like a director's work is somehow tough to be spotted out. How can you spot it out?

Name: Anonymous 2013-05-17 21:42

>>183

The best directors are easy to spot, trust me on this.

Name: Anonymous 2013-05-17 21:47

>>184
That doesn't help much...

you mean like episode director? Usually you can tell if they do storyboard. Stuff like framing each shot, the angles, even the art direction can be influenced and traced back to the episode director. Yamauchi is like 101 material for this, just watch any of his episodes and you'll get a hang of it

it helps if you know theory behind cinematography, you'll be able to understand "direction" and the likes better

Osamu Kobayashi uses "ugly" designs.

Tell tale signs;

1 shot composition - http://aninomiyako.wordpress.com/2012/04/06/just-a-few-observations/
2 camera angels -
3 uses of similar cuts over various works - Shinbo's head tilt for example
4 similar use of colors - Masashi Ishihama's soft/pale coloring in works he directs

Great explciations. Thanks man! But I want to ask ou about angles, in intensive action, Tanaka and Aninari for example use various angles. Is this the storyboarder's choice or Tanaka's (Aninari's)? In others situations, it's obviously the storyboarder (Hyouka for example).

Thanks.
