In your opion what are some good dubs. Mine would have to be read or die, I think it even won some sort of award for excelent dubs. My second pick would have to be Cowboy Bebop.

My favorites are Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell: SAC.
Good dubs? I'm much easier on dubs than most internet anime fans... I personally believe that most anime internet fans severely overrate Japanese voice work (I've never heard a real Japanese person do the flip-out voice that you hear so often from angry anime characters) and severely underrate modern English voice acting. (different =/= bad, and its pretty common for the voice actors to sound more realistic with their performance than their Japanese counterparts IMO)
But my favorite dubs would be Fullmetal Alchemist's, Berserk's, and Cowboy Bebop's. (damn, that was a generic list)

Not really. For me at least. Whenever I could, I would always prefer to watch movies or tv shows in their native language. Spanish and chinese/HK movies, korean and japanese tv shows. It's just that I feel something is always lost in the translation. Tranlations for subs are hard enough to accomplish with accuracy. But for dubs, they have to fit the words to the mouth movements as well. I imagine they have to sacrifice the accuracy a lot, just so it won't look awkward.
For some of you it seems this has turned into a "It's a weeboo, get him!" thread. Let me tell you guys something, It may change your outlook. Ever watch Friends or Seinfeld dubbed in japanese? IT'S NOT FUNNY. Even the mighty Southpark and The Simpsons totally fail! All the "enhusiasm" of japanese seiyuu really didn't fit these shows. Cartman is voiced by a girl, Phoebe's voice is the "old woman/witch" archtype, Kramer's is the "monkey/agile bad-guy" archtype, and -god-forbid Homer's voice ain't that far off that episode when his face is used on a japanese commerial.
Worst Japanese Dub I've heard was for Beverly Hill 90210. Remember that blonde jock guy? the one with curly hair? His voice was the totally low-pitched "big guy/tough guy/black guy" archtype. If your eyes were closed, you'd think you're watching anime.

I get japanese channels on cable. Sometimes I just happen catch these dubbed shows when I'm waiting for something else to come on. The simpsons and south park are two of my favorite shows. I also wacthed a fair bit of seinfeld and friends (all in english, of course). So I'm quite sure what the episode was about, what this joke was about, what they were talking about in this scene, etc.
I also know a fair bit of japanese...well, enough to understand that they totally failed on one joke because of the delivery was awkward. Or they made a reference about something only funny in the west. Like that south park episode where mecha-streisand first appeared, remember the japanese guy singing the annoying theme. WTF!

I agree with most of these, except Chobits. I couldn't stand listening to the akward voices, espescially how they try to force "sempai" in.
As for dubs, I've heard the voice for Misato Katsuragi in only one Anime, but tons of dubbed hentai.
Bebop
Mahoromatic
Trigun (for the most part)
Gundam SEED (actually better than the Japanese)
DBZ (less annoying than the high pitched japanese)
Outlaw Star
FLCL
Golden Boy (funny as hell)
Dirty Pair FLASH
Project A-ko
City Hunter the movie

Personally, I look forward to dubs. I like to be able to say "That one thing so and so said was cool" as opposed to "That one thing that was shown at the bottom of the screen was cool."
Plus, with a dubn I can turn away from the screen for a moment or longer and not miss anything. That's nice.
