TRUE LOVE? Japanese lingerie maker Ravijour's high-tech bra that supposedly unhooks only when the wearer is really in love.

In a long-awaited fusion between hot-blooded hormones and cold-headed engineering, a Japanese lingerie company has produced a bra that it claims will unlock only when the wearer is really in love.

The "True Love Tester" uses sensors and a special gadget linked to a mobile device to analyse the pattern and speed of the user's heart beat in the heat of the moment.

   If the app determines the woman's feelings are for real, the clasp at the front pops open, AFP reported.

   The bra is a gimmick by lingerie brand Ravijour, which says it is not for sale but forms part of a publicity campaign for the marque's 10th anniversary.

   "We wanted to do something that wouldn't just appeal to people who wear our products but also to lift the romantic mood between men and women," said spokesman Yuka Tamura.

   In a video, viewers are shown how the glittering gold bra conceals sensors inside the cup, which send wireless signals to a smartphone.

   The app studies the heart's changing pattern and the duration of the change, which the makers say will allow it to distinguish between activities as diverse as jogging and flirting.

She's 62 years old - and a lingerie model. And she's turning heads and gaining fans online too.

   Clothing giant American Apparel has bucked the trend for young models in fashion campaigns by using 62-year-old Jacky O'Shaughnessy in its lingerie advertisement, NY Daily News reported.

   The brand posted a photo of the silver-haired senior citizen on Facebook in her underwear and a purple lace bandeau top.

   Below her picture was the caption: "Sexy has no expiration date".

   The photo, which appears to have been shot for a 2012 campaign, got lots of love online, where shoppers gushed over Ms O'Shaughnessy's "stunning" looks.

   "This deserves a standing ovation. Seriously," one Facebook user wrote.

   "Hope I age just as beautiful" another posted.

Ms O'Shaughnessy began modelling for the brand after being scouted in a New York restaurant in 2011, reported UK's The Independent.

   She appeared in their Advanced Basic campaign, her first modelling shoot, which she described as "lots of fun".

   Speaking to Fashionista.com, she said: "You know, I've read so many times that modelling is vapid as best. I found it to be engaging and creative. It requires energy and an ability to communicate without words.

   "It wasn't a big shoot with lots of people fussing and helping, it just Marsha [the photographer] with her camera so it was very personal."

   American Apparel made headlines for adding nipples and public hair to mannequins at its Lower East Side store last month.
