I believe lurking and taking time to think out your replies will be the best way to promote VIP Quality posts.
I remember when I lurked /a/ for 3 years before I started to post regularly.
Times have changed, and the posts since that time, to now, really show that.
I don't believe /a/ had a problem with "elitism" as some of the newcomers perceived. Our actions in the early days stressed a certain quality to each of the posters replies and threads.
As such, this made it appear that the whole board had a air of elitism to it.
But really, that's more of a illusion of the influx of the newfags since that summer. And eventually, /a/ changed.
On the plus side, despite the massive growth, we haven't stooped down to /v/'s Nth level of shit.
