I have always liked to believe there is some sort of higher power in the world. I think shaping your internal monologue somewhat like a prayer is not a bad thing, and can help you work through tough issues.
I would like to believe there is a god of some sort, it makes the world prettier. I do not believe in yaweh, buddha, krishna, ishtar, allah or shiva.
As for actual praying to a specific God, I haven't done it once since just after my thirteenth birthday, when I realized that no one was really listening.
Why do you think God cares about a goddamn sports game... also, what if the other team has a player praying that they don't blow it?

God is always listening. Whether or not he is directly acting, is another question in and of itself. I've come to find that God has the ability to directly involve himself, but his actions may never be recognized.
A question I've been comtemplating for a while:
Hell is defined as separation from God.
So there's two scenarios:
1. We're living in Hell right now.
2. We live with God, but his existence isn't as explicitly stated as we'd like.
"God works in mysterious ways" is Godspeak for "We know it's all made up and doesn't apply to actual circumstance, but interpret it this way and you can still play pretend whenever something happens!"
