Any living creature fears death... at least on an instinctual level... That accounts for our self-preservation instincts.
Humans though, hold a special fear of death... we have the mental capacity to wonder about the afterlife... Heaven? Hell? Purgatory? Reincarnation?
All of these (and any religion) could be explained as humanity's desperate need for self-preservation, immortality, in a sense.
Because we fear oblivion.
The complete cessation of conciousness.
Just thinking about it makes me squirm in despair... I'm surprised that humanity, in it's knowledge of death being inevitable, hasn't gone mad entirely.

...ironic if so, because it is probably this "madness" that keeps our society stable, and our people sane. I wonder if our society would be so lax in it's studies in sciences concerning immortality and self-preservation without religion. Or if we would be more self conscious when it came to health...

The server migration is almost complete at this point, and we'd like some feedback.
A few things: We peaked at 93.17mbps tonight, a new record. Things should be much faster now, however we are already aware that we'll be needing some more bandwidth/RAM a few months down the road. This will be addressed later (March probably).
Please report any slowness (or speed increases), site quirks/issues/bugs/etc., and other technical things here.
