OSAKA Seventeen dead cats were found Friday at a park in Ikeda, Osaka Prefecture, leading local authorities to suspect they were poisoned, city officials said. The bodies were incinerated, the city officials said.
In Kanagawa Prefecture, meanwhile, police on Friday sent papers to prosecutors on a 37-year-old man on suspicion of dumping three female puppies into a river in Atsugi. The newspaper delivery man, a dog fighting fan, was quoted as telling the police, "I dumped them because female dogs cannot be used for dog fighting." (Kyodo News)
