'Lonely' boy uses Net to recruit buddies for schoolgirl gang rape
MURORAN, Hokkaido -- A schoolboy has been reported to prosecutors after he posted a message on an online site seeking recruits to gang rape a schoolgirl, police said.
Police sent the Muroran Branch of the Sapporo District Public Prosecutors Office documents accusing the 16-year-old boy of intimidation.
The boy, who cannot be named under the Juvenile Law, admits to the allegations.
"I've got nothing against the girl. I just wanted to write something that would make me stand out. I was lonely and wanted somebody to write back to me," the boy told the police.
Police said the boy used his computer on Dec. 12 to post on a local community-oriented bulletin board a message urging others to join him in raping a schoolgirl. He named the schoolgirl.
A site visitor alerted the police, who tracked down the boy via his IP address and provider and raided his home to question him. The message stayed up on the site for three days. (Mainichi Shimbun, Feb. 2, 2005)
