In January of 2003 I was a regular in the a2000a channel in Aniverse; people kept posting links to pictures hosted at 4chan. I decided to go and see what the hell it was all about. At first not knowing a damn thing about 4chan, SA, or internet culture in general, I lurked until about March or so, then started posting to /b/, where I hung out more frequently than other places.

Notice how people mentioned places like world2ch and a bunch of obscure places that 4chan was being mildly advertised at. Then you take note of >>36 and realize that the plague that is commonly referred to as "The cancer", is at the point of being permanently irreversible.
I believe this thread to be a shining, permanent example of how the quality of 4chan has sharply declined from its simple humble beginning.
Back in 2005-2006, I was a member at the futanari forums of 0bsidian.net, where people would occasionaly post links to threads on /d/. I didn't know shit about image boards back then, so I'd bookmark threads that looked interesting with the intention of coming back later to download the images during my idle, non-surfing time (loldialup), then wonder why the threads were all 404ed days later. I did not even know about the faggotry of the other boards, until I started seeing /b/ memes being used in FFXI. That finally piqued my interest enough for me to 'discover' 4chan proper.
