As a producer who releases records on independent small record labels I find most people's attitudes on here disgusting. You're stealing someone else's work plain and simple.

Why is this socially and morally acceptable to most? When I release a record most of my sales will happen in the first 12 hours, the moment it is on a torrent or p2p site then my sales drop off completely. I'll be lucky if I make a few hundred pounds out of a record, yet I find thousands of copies available for download that have been stolen from me.

So by illegally downloading you're actually not harming the big record labels who make their money from massive concerts and merchandising.

You're actually harming more the small independent artist and record label who may make some new and exciting music rather than the same regurgitated formatted manufactured rubbish you hear being churned out by the majors record labels at the moment. I welcome this move, although maybe it needs some fine tuning.
