Some genoius at Warner decided that some cartoons, on DVD for the first time, should be cropped top and bottom. The reason given is that theaters would have done that (the matte) to put onto a widescreen. But that is not exactly true, as the only part of the action that was done with widescreen in mind by the animators was the titles and credits which were purposefully done to fit in widescreen (and would automatically fit standard as well by just opening the matte) in case some genous put mattes on. Comparing the images makes it plain that Warner fucked up.
