STAR TREK (2009) -kicks all kinds of ass

Fuck, what a fun movie.

PROS
-Excellent casting. (even though McCoy was a bit of an overactor and slipped into Jack Nicholson accents often).
-Superb pacing. At the climax before I knew it.
-The CGI never stood out. Even with giant snow beasts and shit. I especially liked the shot of the drill crashing to earth.
-green tits

CONS
-sometimes stuff was a bit too... unbelievable. kirk stumbles into old spock stumbles into scotty comes to mind.
-the faggy fishmouth who played young kirk.
-the faggy kid who played scotty's alien friend

A million times better than anything Star Wars in the last 20 years.

It was awesome as a character study and satire, but the plot is lacking.

Going to see it at an IMAX right now.

I'm back.
Plot is pretty weak.  They made it into a standard action flick.  No morality, and some shitty science.  Still, a fun ride, and not the worst of the trek movies.
McCoy is great.

While it is an action movie, I appreciate what it did.
It revitalized the franchise.
In my mind, all this movie was made for was creating a new setting, introducing a new cast, and giving everyone some well deserved fan service.
I'm giving it a free pass because it did what needed to be done, and was fun.
The next movie however, I will judge far more critically.
