A friend of mine wanted me to check out Fringe, so I wasted an hour of my life on it. I can hear the pitch meeting in my head:
Producer: You're gonna love this. We wanna make the X Files, crossed with CSI. Whaddaya think?
Studio Exec: Hmmmm... sounds good. I tell ya what though; we're looking for another House character. You know, a druggie genius. Think you can write one in?
The rest is TV fail history.
Or is it just me.

It's not getting the whole X-Files thing right. The main character, played by Anna Torv, always looks like she's going to cry. And at the end of each episode, you realize how worthless she is and why she looks like that. It usually gets solved only by Walter already having previous knowledge of the case.
The way the economy and general mood in the developed world is right now, viewers need to feel empowered. It is not a good time for a show that has the message of, "You can't do anything about these horrible things, and they are only taken care of by luck."
I'll keep watching it, but as far as this season has gone, nothing has really progressed in terms of the character or the plot.

Thus the inability to understand what's interesting, funny, or appropriate.
Gee guys, let's throw childhood playground-esque insults at each other! If you can't manage a decent discussion maybe you should head back to /b/, huh?
