/tele/, I'm looking for a couple of old movies (that is, almost certainly black-and-white), but I can't remember the titles.
One is about a man living in New York or somewhere and taking care of a kid. The man is very eccentric, and I don't think he had a job. Social services might have tried to take the kid or something, I don't remember.
The other I remember even more poorly. All I know is that there was an alcoholic in it, possibly Peter Lorre, who was a washed up intellectual, and who would just sit in some apartment or something drinking wine all day. He wasn't the central character. I think the story was about Humphrey Bogart or something; I'm not sure. Anyway, the protagonist supported this drunkard character for some reason or other and possibly even asked for his advice.
Any of this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks in advance.
