Ok so I'm thinking we tackle the subject of how shit both of these so called "movies" are, and infact the spin offs and sequels too. Saw had a good idea I'll give it that, but whaaaat? it was so OVER done, leave it at one. Hostel on the other hand, JESUS CHRIST! Wasn't this the film that put people in the hospital, is sure as hell did for me! I tried to choke myself with my own cock I was that bored. I'm also stabbing at the critics that gave these "movies" a good review its not a film its tricking people into thinking they are good films by adding gore and effects and all that other bull-shit that now seems to come with Hollywood "movies". Not "movies", they are reels of food colouring with a splash of dialouge. Discuss.

Critics nowadays tend to dig around the shit looking for diamonds. Much like DeviantArt, they give free hugs if the thing is popular enough so people will be more inclined to read their own articles. That is why critics tend to say good things about shit movies that everyone likes while using "real" analysis on movies people haven't heard about (which ends up with lower ratings overall*.) Since no-one likes a mean critic, filmmakers are held at a much lower standard.
The whole western movie/critic business is a shadow of its former self. I'm turning to the Asian culture for my movies now; at least they push boundaries. We wouldn't have original ghost stories like The Grudge, The Ring, One Missed Call, or Pulse if it wasn't for them.
*I admit that there are individual movies that have higher ratings than mainstream ones, but that's not on average.

totally agree. critics rate good movies bad, and bad movies good. example: paparazzi. i think it was an awsome movie. did you see the way critics rated it?

food coloring is fine. what would you want to see on film? like ancient rome and their theater? when someone dies on stage, they die in reality?? if thats the case, lead by example. go to hollywood and be the next person to die on camera for the rest of us to see. or, you can go to college, get some scrap of paper, and make movies the way YOU want to see them. or just get ahold of the faces of death tapes and d/l all islamic beheadings you find.
