What does blowing wind mean in Asian films?

Name: Anonymous 2007-08-30 0:00 ID:otZCmIvz

I know theres a specific meaning for wind blowing through trees or on a main characters face / hair in Asian cinema, but none of my friends know the answer. So what is the tradition?

I figure it must have something to do with a change in character development, like a breaking point, or maby a sign that the spirits are near.

But its pretty common, like there will be a shot of a wind chime then the wind comes up, or a shot of a tree, then then wind starts up.

thanks in advance

Isnt it some kind of memento mori type thing?
Often a couple of leaves blow past in the background, kind of like, you could be dead, but your alive.
