Old Dune V. New Dune

Which do people prefer: The classic David Lynch Dune of the 80s or the SciFi channel Dune miniseries?

I will probably get a lot of flak from purists for this, but I actually prefer the miniseries.

The miniseries.  David Lynch is batshit crazy.

David Lynch rules. I don't like dune at all, so i haven't wasted time with either, but i think it's safe to say that the original dune is better.

Generally which ever one people saw first is the one they prefer.

Saw the original dune first.

The classic David Lynch one all the way. I only wish they had had the budget to make it a lot longer or make a trilogy out of it or something. The atmosphere fits Dune very good. So much better than this new abomination that calls itself Dune.

You should read the three Preludes to Dune. That stuff actually IS batshit crazy at times, like it or not. So Lynch's interpretation is pretty accurate.

I read the books first. The game Dune 2 inspired me because I was curious what all that shit was about. And it turned out to be the most epic series of books I ever read. Fuck Star Trek/Wars, to hell with LotR. Long story short, I still prefer Lynch's movie over anything else (except for the actual books of course).

i love the new1 but the origional will always be a soft spot

I liked the miniseries better. Lynch's was way too fragmented. I heard they made it around 5 hours, but had to cut it down to what it is now.

Preferred the miniseries myself, thought it was much better done, will admit it had its problems, but one my favorite book to movie flims, after Chronicles of Narnia, man was that an amazing movie
