Hidden messages in films

People claim movies have subtle messages meant to shift our opinion on certain issues, or portray certain things in a positive/negative/neutral light, or feel more concerned or more desensitized to different behaviors.  Of course it's all speculation whether these moments are meant to mean anything, or just carelessly draw notice.
