why is it that some movie soundtrack cd's don't contain all the music from the movie?

I know what you are talking about, and it is annoying.

Batman 1989, by Tim Burton: That movie had music by Danny Elfman and Prince. The problem though is if you wanted all of that music you would have to buy the one with Prince music and the one with Danny Elfman music. They were on different CD's.

Also: Fight Club had "ambient" music as well as music by the Pixies and others, however, on the soundtrack you only get the "Ambient" music.

Which is why I turned to Piracy for my music.
