Life Aquatic - all the movies by that guy are excellent. I'd have to think harder for other movies that are really exceptional, so I won't.

These people lie, there have been very few good films. There's alot of craptacular super-martial-artist asian action films and shocker horrors which disgust rather than scare the audience. Sin City isn't really any good unless you're a comic geek and feel like watching a movie comic.
Pirates of the Carribean was pretty damn good. The Last Samurai was also pretty good especially for something with Tom the scientologist Cruise. Other well reviewed movies like Hellboy are okay but I wouldn't watch them more than once.
Peter Jackson's Dead Alive / Freaked / Nothing / Cube / Thief and the Cobbler / Versus
That's more of a Cult-following type of genre of films I've listed for you.

IMO I thought shaolin soccer was way better then Kung Fu Hustle, especially the score
I am a neutral movie-goer. I would say America is not doomed yet. A few good titles these few years are:
- Crash
- Million Dollar Baby
- Cinderella Man
- The Incredibles
Korean masterpieces:
- Oldboy
- 3-Iron
- The Bow
- Brotherhood
- The King and the Clown
- My Sassy Girl

It has always been that most movies that come out aren't very good. Derr.

Yeah, plenty of crap has come out every generation, its just that we remember the good movies more. Why do you think people always reminisce about the "good ole days" when we all know just as much shit happened then as it does now?
