Television hates you, so don't watch it.

I hate people who say they hate television.  Its just shows their stupidity.  They say that there is nothing but crap on TV.  well numbnuts why don't you take it off of Fox and MTV and try out the discovery channel,  TLC, PBS, History Channel, science channel.

And If you don't like what hollywood is producing you can tune into the Independent film channel, and the sundance channel.

I don't HATE television, I just don't like a lot of what's on TV.  I work 9-5:30, get home at 6, eat dinner, wash the dishes, check my E-mail, and by that time, it's 7:00, and usually Law and Order is on.  I'll watch an ep or two, talk to my girlfriend a bit on the phone, then watch an ep or two of fansubbed anime or play some PS2, then go to bed, repeat.

On the weekends I'm too busy doing chores, food shopping, cooking, relaxing, taking care of business that I couldn't do during the week, etc.  I don't really have time or inclination to watch TV until The Simpsons, Family Guy, and/or Iron Chef America comes on.

I wish there was a cable plan to only get 4 channels you want, and pay 4.95 a month.

Television is fine, but commercials ruin it for me. Need the DVR!

A cable plan where you paid for only what you wanted to see, and where they actually had what you wanted to see.

No "packages" where you have two watchable channels, five "shopping networks" a half dozen religious channels and other assorted garbage.
Then if you want more programming that does'nt make you want to pull an Elvis on the TV, you have to spread the cheeks for maybe five channels you can stomach, and twenty that are just shit.

ifc ftw. seriously, there is some good stuff on t.v. if you bother to check it out. turn off the fucking network stations and look for something interesting, people.

Almost all network television sucks, there is some stuff I like such as Family Guy and The Office, but mostly it sucks. As >>4 says, the good stuff is on the "educational" channels and the indie stuff.

TLC ? please, wtf are you learning by watching the same goddamn "when cars collide" or "when surgery goes wrong" or "the worlds fattest man" documentaries over and over again ?

Some good television is at http://uknova.com/, though not much.

Everything else is shit.

Books are no different than TV. Fiction is fiction and entertainment is entertainment. If you're talking about The Universe in a Nutshell as oppposed to anything JK Rowling wrote than its a different story, otherwise you're just talking shit.

peanut-butter fart!

For reasons I can't remember at the moment, I ended up seeing this film in the theaters twice. The second time, I pulled out my phone so I could literally time how long it took Anakin to go from "Gee, maybe I should let Mace Windu kill this guy" to "AWW YISSS KILLIN' ALL THE BABIES... Like animals, in sand. I hate them."
