Stargate SG-1, why is it so hated?

I never really got into this show until recently. It's pretty fun, and certainly beats most of what's on Spike; so why isn't it more popular and/or respected?

Sci-fi fucking blows goats.  They got rid of all their good shows (RIP Farscape) and it seems like all they ever have anymore are these really shitty made-for-tv movies.  GATOR INVASION 2010 AD!!!
