Just watched Kung Fu Hustle for the 5th time and I have to say that it was amazing. Funny(as per usual with Steven Chow), Incredible fight scenes(ala wire-fu and Yuen Wo Ping) and some drama thrown in for good measure. What got me the most was Chow's incredible homage to his idol Lee Siu Long(Bruce Lee) in the films last 15 minutes(as well as a scene in a limo with the old fat lady with the Lion's Roar technique). Classic! Supposedly this film will be released in the U.S. next month in English. Hope they don't cut anything, but a PG rating would be a mistake. A PG-13 would suffice for violence and crude humor. Regardless of that, this film rocks!

I didn't think it was that good.. (*Ducks!*) Some scenes went on for too long, like in the beginning when the axe gang does their dance number. And the characters weren't as developed as I hoped them to be..

Character development wasn't really the focus i guess. A lot more gag humor, but whatever. Steven Chow will always play Steven Chow. Its still a great movie regardless. A lot of fun.

I was expecting it to be funnier, but then again, i'm a big fan of his older works Have to admit though, his directing skills have improved quite a lot...there's lots of parts of the film which just screams 'inspiration', such as the dancing mafia scene. Great stuff.

I saw this movie in a trip to Hong Kong this year and I laughed out loud for most of the movie. The movie isn't very deep and the plot isn't great. However, if you take it as some random action/comedy fest, then it is greatly enjoyable and worthy of a DVD purchase. I loved the dancing mafia scene so much, I bought the OST as soon as I saw it for the cheapest price at a HK media store.

I rented and watched this last night and was pretty disappointed by it.
I thought a few parts were pretty funny but overall nothing was really too hilarious. My laughter never raised above a slight chuckle.
The movie itself didn't seem to go anywhere worthwhile. Things were thrown in for no reason.. I kind of liked the love interest (although the male side was an ultra jerk) but even that was pretty pointless.
I didn't dislike it, but for a movie that all of America has been freaking the fuck out about, I was very disappointed.

One thing I've noticed about Stephen Chow movies is the pacing and character developement are kind of sporadic but that doesn't neccesarily take away from the film. It's still good kung fu and good laughs.

I loved the random undead army that popped out of the zither getting destroyed almost immediately by the landlady's screaming.
