1) check if you have LOWID. if you want to download file you muse have HIGHid
2) just wait.

I've had it going for over a day now and I'm connected to a server with a High ID, yet it still says "waiting." I'm new to the whole eDonkey/eMule thing and I really don't understand what the problem is.
In looking around a little, I read it could be because of firewalls. I have Windows XP SP2 with the Windows firewall disabled, though I am running ZoneAlarm. In the help file for eMule, it said something about having to manually enable certain "ports" (in quotations because of my own n00bishness). However, I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to do this in ZoneAlarm, if that's what's causing it.
Whoever solves this one gets my second child.

Maybe eDonkey and eMule use ports in a different way, but normally it's very easy to configure Zone Alarm. It will say, "[whatever the application is] wants Internet access. Do you wish to permit this? [yes] [no]" and you just click on "yes," assuming you know what the application is and what it will do, and, if you want, click on the little "remember this setting" check-box too, and that's it.
