Has anyone here seen the old TV show Twin Peaks? It was on in the early 90s; now there is a DVD edition of the first season. In my opinion that was the best televsion show ever. In my opinion, nothing I have ever seen on TV compares with it. :)

Yeah, I saw it. Amazing stuff. I didn't watch it regularly the first time it wasw on (why would a 10 year old want to?) and a few years ago Bravo replayed the entire series, but I forgot to watch some of them.
Although it was way too confusing to follow I like that it was unlike conventional, formulaic television. Also the show had the young lisa flynn boyle.

Young Lara Flynn Boyle was hott :) But I prefered the chick that played Audrey.
Most found the show hard to follow, that was why it was canceled after all. The challenge of the show is that you have to look at it from a different perspective than most shows on television. Its very surreal.

It wasn't cancelled because people found it hard to follow. After they solved the murder of Laura Palmer, most people just didn't care anymore.
The murder was the hook and without it there was nothing to keep their interest.

I'm totally sick of all these cancellation arguments, they always come up. The series was completed and it was wrapped up, a lot better than other innovative shows have done. Sure, some of the later second season episodes are a bit of a review or filler, but it's still one of the most beautifully filmed and well written television series ever to grace America.
Outside of its amazing script, Twin Peaks has a level of artistic design fucking UNSEEN on any television show I can recall. I discovered it through a comparison to Silent Hill, and it is definitely a must-see.

It was definitely supposed to go on for at least another season.
I'm not saying the finale we got was bad (I loved it and think it's one of the best things ever shown on television), but pretending it was supposed to end that way is silly.
About the artistry of it all, I'm not sure whether I love TP more for being what it was or for taking the first step making good TV possible. There's no way we'd have gotten Carnivale (another series that was cancelled to early but still had an amazing finale), Buffy or Deadwood.

The film fire walk with me wraps up the series nicely. I am surprised no one mentioned it.

Yeah the show and the movie were both awesome, great soundtracks to both. Some of the plots were completely retarded (especially towards the end of the second series with Little Nicky and the diabolical ex-FBI chess master) and it did get cancelled to early. In fact, it got cancelled and people bitched so much they did a few more episodes to help wrap things up... which didn't really explain as much as could have been explained (even the movie raised more questions than it answered.) But overall it was great, and I wish it had gone on for a little while so there wouldn't be so much speculation surrounding the 2 lodges etc.
