Could anybody reccomend a good indie movie? I'm a fan of most anything that has *some* original thought put into it. I know I'm being somewhat vague, but I'm sleepy and lazy ^_^

Lol fight club wasn't an indy film. The others were though.

Garden State was the most obvious hipster bait ever.
I still enjoyed it, though. :(
(except for the ending. GOD)

-For the feeling that you're 5 years old again, watch Amelie
-For the story of a gangster, a mute chef who tries to fall in love, and more camera lenses than you can count, try Fallen Angels
-For a movie about French corporate intrigue and the Hentai underworld, see Demonlover (damn indie endings though...)
-For badass action, there's Leon: The Professional, and Wasabi
-Some older Woody Allen movies might feel independant, like Annie Hall
-Watch Pi if you haven't yet.
-For anime there's Robot Carnival, Neo Tokyo, Grave of the Fireflies, and End of Evangelion (for that feel good feeling)

I remember National Treasure better than I remember Garden State.

Signed. I felt the exact same way watching Garden State.
I also thought Wasabi was pretty much a stupid action flick. Not that action films are inherently stupid, it's just that one was. The Professional, however, is quite awesome.
I recommend L.I.E., Billy Elliot (which may not be Indie, but it is foreign and therefore small by US standards), To Live and Raise the Red Lantern off the top of my head. City of God is also worth a look.
Annie Hall is far from indie, but Bananas may have been. I think What's Up Tiger Lilly is independent as well.
Everybody needs to see it at least once in their lives.

Not really. I was terribly disappointed.
I noticed that the Chinese (or was it Japanese?) male's dialogue was something in reverse. Has anyone reverse it to see what he is saying? I haven't gotten around to it yet..
I would think that a couple of Peter Jacksons first movies were low-budget enough to be called indie, Bad Taste and Braindead beeing the most popular ones. Also, David Lynchs' first movie, Eraserhead.

Anything David Lynch, especially his TV show Twin Peaks, with ties along with the prequel film Fire Walk With Me. Blue Velvet is his masterpiece, Mulholland Drive is his newest film. Good stuff. Also check out Pi.

Excepting Dune. Dune was bad. The miniseries was quite a bit better, I found.

I can't stand a movie with a bad ending. And when I say that, I'm thinking about Garden State. The rest of it was good.
Clerks was indy. I recommend Clerks.

Night of the Living Dead. I believe it was Romero's first film, and it was cheap. Great film.
