can't use 3tb hard drive

Name: Anonymous 2013-06-13 10:03

after installing windows 7 home premium from ultimate,my 3tb seagate barracuda doesn't show up on "my computer".
i can see it in disk management though, but there are 2 partitions of 2tb and 700gb.
since i have files in it,how can i use it again without having to format the drive ?

Formatting the partitions will seem to do nothing because they aren't mounted.
To mount a partition using Disk Management: Right-click on the partition's name, click "Change Drive Letter and Paths...", click "Add...", choose a mount point, and click OK.

Maybe you need to get the right drivers for it? Google the segate drivers and try to see if installing them lets your comp see it

Updating drivers is useless if the disk and its partitions are visible in Disk Management. The actual problem is with the partitions not being visible. Also, I think "Barracuda"s are all SATA hard drives, for which the drivers would be motherboard drivers for the SATA controller rather than drivers for each disk drive (and I'm sure an OS needs proper drivers for the SATA controller to even boot from whatever hard drive it boots from, unless the boot drive is connected via USB, PCI, etc.)

Bump here... Having similar problems with my 3TB seagate... Also, my OS is telling me I do not have administrative privileges to flash my BIOS... How do I fix that issue? reinstall the OS? Then flash?

Don't change these.
