guitar pedal stuff

Hi /tech/. I have a regular (2012) Phase 90 phaser pedal for my guitar that I like a lot, but I am irritated by how much it amplifies the high mids, so I would like to do the R28 ("script") mod. Normally one would just snip or desolder the R28 resistor but this would void my warranty and I like my warranty. Instead of actually disconnecting one of the lugs, could I just run a wire from it to ground? Or loop it back into the circuit? I would probably add a switch too just because.

for those not familiar with the mod here is some information and more pictures:

in other words if a mod simply requires me to remove a resistor can i achieve the same effect from wiring it to ground or back into the circuit?

Tying one end of the resistor to ground can't hurt the circuit, so just give it a try.

Tying it to V+, on the other hand...

Don't change these.
