Is my nvidia driver bad?

Name: DarkAnonXXXX!!U9jXhkCX 2012-08-25 13:20

I recently installed arch-linux, and I installed X and the nvidia driver with a weird name (nuavuau or something). The basic X environment with twm works just fine, and so did glxwheel, which ran at over 100 FPS. However, I tried running glxcontext, and it segfaulted. In further investigation (isn't gdb great?), I found the segfaulting function appears to be coming from /usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri/nouveau_vieux_dri.so, or the nvidia driver.

So, is this fault on the developers of the glxcontext program, or is this a bad omen that the driver might not work to well?

BTW, I posted the gdb log here. http://pastebay.net/1072199

I don't know, but you could try using the proprietary drivers instead.

Whoops, you bought an nVidia card. Now you're stuck chasing their proprietary driver.

nvidia is really ok under linux (atleast much better than ati) but nivaoiauau is still very limited, just use the proprietary one
