Linux Fresh Install Help!

i just installed Linux Mint 13 (Cinnamon) as my main OS , and only thing on here.
Whenever i boot, it is just a black screen. the only way it works is if i plug in an external monitor, then switch to laptop. what do i have to do to fix this? also, it randomly switches back within like 7 minutes so please?

I saw this on /g/ yesterday. Did you try reinstalling it?
