ISP in the UK

I am looking for an ISP in the UK. Any recommendations?

Used to have a contract with them long ago. They didn't manage to send me a final bill, instead I got some letters from a collection agent at some point.

Additionally whichever company I order from, a BT engineer has to come to connect the line. The next ones in my area are available on the 30th of July. If they can't connect a phone in under a month, how long do I have to wait until they fix a problem.

How about Virgin then? AFAIK, Virgin Media is the only ISP that doesn't (in some way) rely on BT. I hate them too but I am dying to get Fibre so I'd rather put up with Infinity than wait for Virgin to get to my area.
