Long story short, I got a laptop from 2004. It is, as you might imagine, rather... Outdated, in terms of hardware.
Thing is, it can't run unless it's plugged in, so no portability.
What would you do with it?

Buy a cheap battery from amazon and use it to browse the web or other things I wouldn't need my master race thinkpad x220 with core i5 and 160gb ssd for.

there are a few lightweight linux distros designed for this exact purpose, if you're interested.
crunchbang is the only one i've had any experience with and i would recommend it.
