iPhone 3GS problems

Sup hustlers and /g/angstersm

I've recently been pretty worried about my (old-bootrom) iPhone 3GS running iOS 5.0.1.

The battery is really really bad! I mean, bad as in: if I don't clear my multitask bar every time I open three or more apps, watch a movie with fly mode enabled and my brightness turned all the way down, or enable fly mode when I don't need wi-fi or 3G I can just see the %'s going down every few minutes.

especially when I watch a series, I start with 90%, I put away my iPhone at 87%. And this show is 10 minutes long!

Recently there has been a few articles about apple making the OS "require" more of your battery then on previous versions.
So if you're on iOS4.0 you can make longer hours on a full battery then when you're on iOS5.0.1 (This only includes "older" iPhone models like the iPhone 3GS)

My question however is: Is this true? and if so, what is the "perfect" iOS for my iPhone 3GS?

My specs again (currently):

iPhone 3GS Old-Bootrom | Untethered jailbreak | iOS5.0.1 (9A405)

I hope you guys can help me out.

cheers

Just try some others out, should run fine even on 4

Don't change these.
