CCC

Sup /tech/.
I recently upgraded from an 8800 GTS to a 4850.
The 4850 works great, aside from Catalyst Control Center.
Attempting to open CCC causes all my monitors to go black and the fan on the card to ramp up 100%. After this point, I have to reboot.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, but the issue persists.
The card works great in games.
I'm at a loss.
Yes, I was sure to totally remove all Nvidia drivers prior.

CCC causes the screens to go black as a part of display detection...
Are you using CCC from the disk that came with it?

not op but when CCC installs it makes the display go blank but if you open it then I do not know the problem. Try going to the AMD website to get the latest drivers.

I'm using the latest drivers from the AMD site.
I've tried older and modified versions as well.
I'd really like to avoid reinstalling Windows; especially seeing as this is the only thing that's broken.
The drivers installed fine, and games play fine; I just can't open CCC due to the behavior mentioned in the OP post.
I'd really like to futz with the colors on my second shitty monitor.

Back when I had an hd4870 I remember CCC wasn't even worth installing because of the issues it would create. For you it may be worth it to check CCC for fan control options and see if you can adjust the fan settings.
