Standard TV as a monitor

Hello, guys.

I'm willing to build a emulator box to play in any TV, but, I wonder if this' possible. I mean, to use any normal TV as a monitor, like the old computers did.

But the real question is: I just have to lower the resolution to, like, 640X480 and it will work on any television?

Some TVs now have DVI or VGA connectors right on them, see if you can use those (unless it's an old TV).

Depending on the TV you can have higher than 640x480 as long as it's a resolution that scales with that. Most TVs now do have DVI and/or VGA actually, unless it's a really cheap blackmarket tv or some such.

It won't ever look anything close to as good as a CRT monitor though.
