was using TOR

strongVPN is US-based company with all my data on file

TOR had no trail connecting me to my traffic

am I more or less secure now than before?

The whole point of a VPN is not have information available to those who would want to use it against you.

You have failed massively.

You need a non-US country that isn't your own country to route your encrypted traffic through. The VPN also needs to have a policy of not storing any data, and the country have have no international agreements allowing foreign courts to demand that in country courts give them information.

Anything else is just throwing away money for the illusion of security.

What about people from other countries wanting to have an exit in the U.S. to have access to U.S. based Webservices (Hulu, etc.)

Don't change these.
