Hi. For some reason my 'net connection is utter shit. I have Optimum Online; a cable internet provider that advertises 15Mb/2Mb. I have a Motorola Surfboard modem and a D-Link abg router. I'm also using a Vonage VoIP box.
Previously, I would lose connectivity if I tried to torrent anything, through any client. It would also fail when joining XBL sessions, though Netflix and Hulu apps were okay. The only way to fix it is to manually reset the modem (by unplugging from the outlet.)
Now it does it whenever it damn well pleases. My d/l speeds can drop to 5Mbit or less (lower than 1, on rare occassions) or will knock out completely and need to be reset.
The problem is intermittent, so any time Optimum has sent a tech, the speeds were (coincidentally?) acceptable. Nevertheless, they've replaced the modem more times than I can count, and also the cable from the street to my house.
Any ideas?
