Will this work / Any Issues?

Hey, long story short... I got a cable/internet/phone plan that requires a VOIP modem (DOCSIS 3.0) to utilize everything.  I've searched around for some VOIP modems and an issue arises as I'd like to have built-in Wi-Fi (most don’t have Wi-Fi) to prevent headaches caused by security/bandwidth issues that may arise from plugging a router into the main modem.

A few weeks ago I managed to find a Motorola SURFboard SBG6580 fairly cheap and was planning on using that for the main modem.  It can still be returned if necessary, but would prefer to keep it since VOIP modems in general seem fairly expensive and are rare to include wi-fi (for DOCSIS 3.0 at least).  (Found most pricing around $250 w. Wi-Fi... $150 or so w/o Wi-Fi.)    This is the modem they recommended and I can’t find it anywhere else to compare prices.
Arris Touchstone DOCSIS 3.0 (EMTA) TG852 - 50Mbps Internet speed capable.  $244.99

My question is this:  Would there be any issues with having 2 modems plugged into the cable line? (Signal degradation, use of only one service at a time (similar to how the dial-up used to work))   I’d ideally like to have  1 cheap VOIP modem strictly for phone and the Motorola SURFboard for internet/Wi-Fi  Would there be any issue(s) with doing something like this?   There are plenty of active cable outlets to use for another router (5 at least), but just need to see if it’s doable before buying a cheap VOIP router.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.  Likely a stupid question, but want to make sure.

TL;DR - Would there be any issues with having 2 modems (One EMTA for phone and one DOCSIS 3.0 for internet) plugged into the cable line?

Don't change these.
