2 routers 1 computer

so I have my current computer connected to a wireless router downstairs. I have a dlink wbr 1310 that i'm trying to connect to my computer so I can connect certain wireless devices only to my computer (also so I get a better signal since they don't need internet access). Whenever I connect my computer to the other router via an ethernet cable I can no longer load web pages via chrome or IE but windows live messenger and steam continue to work. Wat do?
