Need some help with ideas on how to get IT departments to fully grasp the ideas of segregating testing environments from production environments, assuming a programming perspective.
I am a developer, and have been pushing for the use of version control and other development best practices for almost 6 months. I continually get pushback from IT stating that using my workstation as a testing environment is only going to incur more costs. This to me doesn't make sense, since local development and testing helps reduce faults, bugs, and other errors from reaching production environments.
Have you ever dealt with a similar situation? If so, how did you overcome the issue?
