HELP ME

I just bought a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS hard drive from Newegg and my BIOS on my ASUS P5QL/EPU LGA 775 Intel P43 ATX Intel Motherboard won't recognize it.

The SATA and power cable I'm using worked literally 3 days ago on my old hard dive. I've tried connecting the SATA cable to different ports on my motherboard and that didn't work. When I turn on the system the hard drive makes some sounds like its being read or detected, but the BIOS still won't recognize it.

Is the drive dead, or is there something I'm missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
